Value of asking questions

As humans we are gifted with intellect – the capacity to "think". So it is in our nature to
think, learn and grow. One way of learning is to ask questions. Both in the field of
science & spirituality, one can learn & grow by asking questions/seeking answers. When
we stop asking questions, we stop learning and stop growing.

Whatever I have learned in my profession or in the field of spirituality is by asking
questions and seeking answers. There was a time I didn’t know anything about spirituality
or about mind/body medicine. Several years ago, after I accomplished my immediate
financial goals, I had this question – Why should I go to work? This question lead me to
several other questions – What is the purpose in going to work, other than earning
money? What will happen if I don’t go to work? – eventually bumping onto to deeper
question about life itself – What is the meaning/purpose of life?

While I was searching answers for the basic question about life, I had series of other
questions – What is the purpose of marriage? What is the purpose of giving birth to a
child? What is the purpose of having a family? What is the purpose of getting educated?
etc… It took me few years to get some answers and I am still getting answers/clarification
for these questions.

Once I had these questions, I was attracting teachers and books that had answers to my
questions. Later I learned that "the law of intention and desire" was at work. Yoga
scriptures say getting a human birth is precious, so ask questions about your life – seek
answers and grow out of pain & suffering
