It is amazing to think about olympic atheletes or mountain climbers. It is incredible to see the violen player that makes the instrument do the unimaginable, and the person that sails across the ocean alone. Or the person that dives to the depths of the ocean to show us life never seen before. We don’t see the hours of practice and preparation where an individual had to keep going though pain and failure. But somehow they kept going.
In the same respect what about that doctor, police officer, maintenance man, electrician, teacher, business person, bus driver, etc., and just every person that goes unnoticed in the news and yet day after day gets the job done. What about that Mom and Dad that takes the kids every where and prepares the meals, and cleans the house, and shops, and mends minor hurts for their children, and oragnizes the day.
What is it that gets all this done? To me it is working towards the life envisioned. The life that while dreaming you saw in different ways. Wheteher it was children, or a house, or a business, or a good job, or perhaps a white picket fence – the dream is what keeps people going. I don’t think we give this it’s due however. Maybe more time should be given to what drives us, motivates us, and causes the passion and fulfillment within. Perhaps not so much about white picket fences, though they are nice, but instead what and who we wish to be. To not look so much on the outside but instead taking care of the inside.
