In the United States, today is Martin Luther King Jr. Day, a day when we honor Dr. King and all that he stands for. His courage, strength and fight for what is right changed the entire fabric of American life. There is no doubt that he was one of the greatest men of this millenium and what he did continues to create ripples today, the biggest one being the inauguration of President Obama.
I hope we can take today not only to remember and honor the man Dr. King was, but also to reflect on our lives, the choices we make and the lessons we should learn.
My heroes are Mahatma Gandhi, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, Nelson Mandela and His Holiness the Dalai Lama. They inspire me to be a better human being. Their lives and teachings have one thing in common, that the path of non-violence is the only way. Violence is never the long term solution. So I hope that you all, in honor of Dr. King and all the other great people who inspire you to be a better human being, take the vow.
