Who Will You Invite to Take the Vow of Nonviolence?

On November 7th Deepak Chopra asked a group of 500 gathered in Barcelona, Spain to take a vow of nonviolence.

This vow spread throughout our community.

Many of you commented on Deepak’s post — and took the vow — including Lynn Maker, Garima Singh, Ezequiel Rodriguez, Sari London and Mark Gherke.

Visit Deepak’s post to see all the comments, and all the vows made just in response to his post. And visit our "I took the vow" page to read full posts written by those in our community who took the vow.

Deepak’s post, and the response it garnered, is a powerful incentive for us to continue to spread the word — if each of us takes this vow and reaches out to just two other people — there will be a cascade effect for peace and nonviolence.

Please take the vow and share it with two other people — invite them to create a profile on Intent where they can share their resolve — or you can post a blog that lets us know whom you’ve shared this vow with, and why — tag it with "I took the vow" (no quotation marks).

So, who will you share the vow with?

The Vow has now been taken by most of my family members. I’m impressed to see how seriously each one considers before leaping into such a challenging commitment. Several friends have decided they could not honestly commit . (One is a hunter and she’s not willing to give up her hobby!) In my family we made an additional commitment not to use the vow to manipulate. We have found that reminding the others of the vow when they start to transgress is not necessary; the vow has its own power to float into the heart and mind just when most needed!
