Why Do We Have to Forgive? We Forgive So We Remain Free

My friend Abizou Tako, who practices in the African Shamanic tradition, wrote an article for my site on forgiveness and personal freedom. It is also on his page at www.margaretruth.com.

Forgiveness  By Abizou Tako

We always hear about forgiveness. Our parents, grand-parents, ancestors talk often about forgiveness. Why do we have to do that? How do we that? Does that mean we have to forget?

How do you feel when you give a birthday gift or a Christmas gift; what is your feeling when giving a gift to someone? Good and right? That good feeling, or this feeling of a loving spirit, is a good circulation of the energy in you and around you.

Just imagine your spiritual energy as if you have 3000 kilowatts inside your body. This electricity has to circulate like the body’s blood in order to thrive. When you hold someone’s harmful actions inside you, you block the circulation of this loving energy — inside you and around you. If you block it, it is the same as stopping its flow through you. And doing this hurts your self.

Forgiveness is one of the primary keys to your freedom and attaining higher vibration, and it is in your hands. Once you forgive, you unblock the circulation of the energy. Automatically, you attract positive vibes around you. You bring some light into your aura. You make yourself shine spiritually.

Even if you can’t forget, forgive. Forgiveness, however, is not easy to do. Here are some ideas. When you feel pain because you have been hurt, repeat to your self “I forgive, I forgive, I forgive”. By saying that, you start unblocking, opening the door for the negative energy to go and attracting the good vibes around you. It all happens at the same time; it is all connected.

Free yourself. Free yourself. Free yourself.

Repeat then after me: I FORGIVE (Do it 7 times a day for 7 days).

Now, how can you maintain this flow of energy without interruption? We will talk about that in the next chapter. So stay tuned.

May the ENERGY BE WITH YOU. – Abizou

Thanks for the lovely article. Just last night I was in a discussion with a group of First Nations people. One woman told the story of how her tribe had been invited by the king of a European nation to visit his country. He would pay for the entire trip in an effort to make peace regarding incidents that people from his country had inflicted on the ancestors' of this trip over 400 years earlier. She scoffed, "Forgiveness–NEVER!! Not for the things they did to our great, great…grandparents." I felt saddened that this man, who had nothing to do with the abuses from over 4 centuries earlier had made a gesture to repair relations that were greeted with anger and lack of forgiveness. There is no excuse for the many hateful crimes that were committed against First Peoples on this continent, but this lack of forgiveness about people have been dead for 400 years is only hurting this woman and others who choose to hold onto the anger. Forgiveness is a powerful thing…not always easy, but always worth striving for. Your article is a wonderful reminder.

I must forgive someone for doing something so very wrong. I don't have to forgive them for the act, for we are all free to make choices in our lives. We own the Karma for each of our choices.

I must forgive them for intentionally hurting me and trying to diminish my spirit to justify their choice. It was a very unkind thing to do. I have woken up each day since this happened deeply anxious not just because my future is uncertain, but because this was meant to hurt me.

So I will work on I FORGIVE, I FORGIVE, I FORGIVE. Along the way, I will try to forgive myself as well.

Thank you for helping me today.

    Nina
