Come November 3 the yoga guru Baba Ramdev, whose influence streches across virtually the whole spectrum of Indian Politics, will add another feather to his cap.

He will address half a million moulvis (religious teachers) at Darul Uloom – Deoband (UP)  along with Shri Shri Ravi Sahkar, the duo becoming the first nion-Muslim religious leaders  ever to speak, at perhaps India’s most influencial Islamic seminary.

The occasion is the annual conclave of the Jamiat Ulema e Hind, the parent body of the seminary and one of the countries largest Muslim Organisation. Sources said 5 lakh moulvis are expected to attend the general session.

‘Yoga is a good exercise. If some words that are supposed to be chanted while performing like ‘OM’ have religious connotations, then Muslim need not utter those. They can instead recite verses from the Quran or praise Allah or remain silent" the Darul Uloom has said.

Ramdev too declarecd that one could do yoga without pronouncing "OM" substituting for it a prolonged utterance of "ALLAH" or "GOD"

I have adapted a few years back while attending yoga classes for a weak back. I hope out of the half million moulvis attending the session, some on takes notice and my adaptation, finds into the mainstream of daily morning routine



I woke up with the birds this morning and couldn’t go back to sleep. So i turned on the telly, flicked the channels and came across the mind, body spirit channel and this lady asks, "Do you feel like you’re current beliefs are preventing you from living positively?"…And so, because I’m a big believer in spirituality and healing from inside out i figured how hard can yoga really be?….I began listening to the lady and did everything, well not everything she told me to do–honestly, i had a hard time lifting myself up into a lotus position so i just rolled into a baby ball position( I’m unfamiliar with the names). After 30 mins of it, i felt like a new person! I couldn’t believe how much negative tension and stress i released by just stretching! So, i think i’m gonna start doing this from now on…my old ways of releasing stress and tension only brought more stress and tension. I wish i new of this a long time ago! Well, off to make some green jasmine tea!


  1. hale.. the same thing happened to me many years ago when I discovered yoga.. I felt I had had a massage from the inside out..

    good for you…even if you only do 10 min a day… you will be transformed!
